Delete Your PrayerConnect Account

You can request deletion of your PrayerConnect account and its data at any time. There are two ways to do this.

Option 1 — In the app or website (recommended)

Sign in to PrayerConnect (mobile app or prayer.prayerconnect.church).
Open the menu and tap Privacy Settings.
Scroll to the Delete My Account section.
Tap Request Account Deletion and confirm.
Your account enters a 7-day grace period. You can cancel the request at any time during this window by returning to Privacy Settings and tapping Cancel Deletion.
After 7 days, your account and data are permanently removed as described below.

Option 2 — Email request

If you cannot access the app, email prayer@prayerconnect.church from the email address on your account. State clearly that you want your PrayerConnect account deleted. We will process the request within 7 days of verification.

What is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

Your name, email address, and profile information
All prayer requests you created (including generated prayer text, updates, and comments on them)
Your organization memberships, organization requests, and invitations you sent
Your “I prayed for this” records and prayer subscriptions
Your notification preferences and push-notification device tokens
Your sign-in records and app sign-ins
Users you blocked, and blocks against you
Your consent records
View records and statistics for your prayers

What is kept (and why)

Comments on other people’s prayers — replaced with “Comment removed” and shown as from “Deleted user,” so the conversation on their prayer still makes sense. Your name and the comment text are removed.
Moderation records — reports you filed and records of moderation actions are kept with your identity, IP address, and email removed, so we can keep the community safe.
Organizations you own — remain for their other members.
Social media posts — if one of your shared prayers was posted on our social media channels, email us and we will remove our posts. We cannot remove copies made by others.
Aggregate, anonymized statistics — prayer counts, organization membership counts, and other statistics that do not reference you personally may be retained for organization reporting. These cannot be used to identify you.
Email delivery logs at our provider (Mailgun) — our email service provider keeps delivery records according to its retention schedule, typically no more than 30 days.
Legally required records — if we are required by law to retain certain records (e.g., in response to a subpoena), we will do so for the minimum period required by law.

Data retention timeline

Our retention schedule for deleted accounts:

Days 0–7 (grace period): Account marked for deletion. Reversible at any time by the user.
Day 8: Account and all associated data permanently removed from our database.
Up to 30 days: Email delivery logs at Mailgun age out.
Backups: Our database backups are kept for up to 30 days on a rolling basis. Deleted data remains in backups until those backups expire.
